(RIVER GLADE, NB – June 22nd, 2023) – Petty International Raceway will be alive with the sound of screeching tires, the smell of burning rubber and the visual of bent fenders as they host their annual MetalCore and D.R. Scrap Metals Night of Destruction this Saturday night. The River Glade, New Brunswick oval will see a 75-lap Endurance Race, Demolition Derby, Trailer Smash Through and Burnout Competition as the main on track attraction along with several action packed qualifying races. The Monster Bus is back for rides as well – and its got a new look in 2023! The action gets underway at 4pm on Saturday, June 24th.
The 75-lap Endurance Race is a favorite of both drivers and fans alike. The race puts both car and driver to test as they try and get their former passenger car to the end of the race while battling a full field of drivers with the same task. While contact is not encouraged, this event takes place on one of the most exciting stock car ovals in the region, meaning you’ll see some paint swapped and bumpers exchanged throughout the 75 green flag lap distance. Fans will see a mix of their favorite stock car racing stars, returning faces and Demolition stars racing hard for the top prize during the MetalCore and D.R. Scrap Metals Night of Destruction.
The Demolition Derby will anchor the night as drivers bash their way to the top prize following the Endurance Race. Like any other sport, several drivers have honed their skill in Demolition and will be hauling to Petty International Raceway to not only put on a show for the fans but take home another trophy and the winner’s prize. Interest from all three Maritime Provinces has been expressed from teams for this event throughout the months since the MetalCore and D.R. Scrap Metals Night of Destruction has been announced!
If that was not enough Demolition action for you, wait, there’s more! The Trailer Smash will provided some more explosive action as a special guest driver will drive THROUGH a camper trailer. You will not want to miss this!
Hired Guns Transportation has added to the pot for the winner of the Burnout Competition, making the top prize a minimum of $400 to win. Call it a ballet of burning rubber, if you will, the Burnout Competition is a fine recipe of burning rubber and spinning tires. The end result is a feast for all the senses and a show for all when all the smoke comes to a rest!
The Monster Bus has taken on a new look in 2023 as Super Mario Bros are now adorning the jacked up Mini Bus! Fans will be able to take a ride around with Wayne “Luigi” Smith prior to the show and at intermission and it is complimentary with your admission ticket to the Metalcore and D.R. Scrap Metals Night of Destruction!
