Pit Area Age Restriction - Minor Participation

STONERIDGE Specialty Insurance, which insures Petty International Raceway, has stated that all teams minor participants must have a Parental Consent waiver form signed by both parents and a Minor Participant - Assumption and Acknowledgement of Risk waiver form completed and signed by the minor. A minor participant is defined as anyone under the age of 18 years who enters the pits.

This means that teams who have crew who are 8 to 17 years old will not be permitted in the pits without the completed Parental Consent waiver, the Minor Participant waiver and proof of age.

STONERIDGE has instructed tracks to question any crew member that appears to be under the age of 18 years. Please be aware you could be refused entry to the pits if suitable (government issued) proof of age cannot be produced if requested by our pit gate staff (even if you are 18 or older).

Participants between 8 and 17 years of age must have a Parental Consent waiver and a Minor Participant waiver completed to gain access to the pits. The Parental Consent waiver MUST be fully executed by both parents (or legal guardians) and witnesses in advance of the event and presented at the pit gate along with proof of age for the minor in question.

The minor then signs the Minor Participant waiver at the gate to enter the pits. STONERIDGE has also stated that the tracks are not to admit anyone who cannot provide proof of age when requested.

Failure by the track to check proof of age and collect the Parental Consent waiver and the Minor Participant form will result in event insurance becoming null and void - and the track would be liable if something happens to a minor participant in the pits. The penalty could extend to coverage for the event, if it is proved the track did not follow procedures set forth by the Insurance provider.

If you have 8 to 17 year old crew, please ensure they have the Parental Consent waiver and the Minor Participant waiver completed when entering the pits and that they have proof of age with them. The Parental Consent waiver is required once annually - we keep the form on file for the season. The minor will have to provide proof of age and sign a Minor Participant waiver each time they enter the pits. The waiver form will be at the pit gate and MUST be signed by the minor before entering the pit area.

 

All persons entering the pits pay the same admission price regardless of age.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN BEING EJECTED FROM THE PIT AREA, AND COULD RESULT IN BEING DENIED FUTURE ACCESS.
